Jo Garrity | Founder
Jo is a writer-director and creative producer based in Barcelona. Founder of Jog Films, he is currently developing the independent feature film COLA (working title: The Pepsi-Cola Addict) based on the lost novel by June-Alison Gibbons, as an international co-production anchored in Spain. He studied genetics at UC Berkeley before turning to film, working with Saturday Night Live, the Pacific Film Archive, Telluride Film Festival, and Pixar Animation Studios (Inside Out, The Good Dinosaur, Finding Dory).
His narrative short film, TWINSBURG, a tragicomic ode to identical twinship, screened at 50 festivals worldwide, winning 10 awards and coverage in the New York Times. He was lead editor and assistant director on Charles Ferguson’s WATERGATE: OR, HOW WE LEARNED TO STOP AN OUT-OF-CONTROL PRESIDENT (Berlinale, Telluride, NYFF). His music videos, live audiovisuals, and commercial work include collaborations with Alvvays, Crumb, Hank May, Desigual, Bushmills, and Netflix’s Peaky Blinders.
Jo holds an MFA in Creative Writing and Screenwriting from the University of California, Riverside, teaches creative process through Creativity Labs in Barcelona, and publishes a Substack from behind-the-scenes at Jog Films on Backlot Tram Ride. He has trained extensively as an improviser at The Groundlings (LA), Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre (NY), and BATS Improv (SF), and is the creator of WINDY BLUFFS, improvised radio plays performed live and released in spatial audio.
